Posts Not Selling? Toni Bache's 2-Part Content Funnel Fix
TL;DR:
Toni Bache joins Stu McLaren to explain why good content often fails to sell, and the two missing pieces: belief shifts and bridges.
Her first membership came from a 30-day challenge that drew about 300 sign-ups with no audience and no list.
In her client workshop campaigns, roughly seven posts run in the week before, each with a comment trigger word, and 30 to 40% of one client's registrants are cold.
Swap the 47-page guide for a "micro magnet" that delivers one quick win.
You post consistently, people like it, and nothing sells. On episode 296 of Marketing Your Business, Stu McLaren asks Toni Bache what is missing from a content funnel that earns likes but no sales. Watch it on YouTube or listen at the Marketing Your Business podcast page.
Who Is Toni Bache?
Toni Bache is a marketer who builds workshop and launch campaigns for online business owners, often working behind the scenes on their content. She started in 2015 while living in Amsterdam in a corporate job, when a 30-day healthy habit challenge drew about 300 sign-ups with no audience or list behind it.
When the challenge ended, she asked participants to keep going for a small monthly fee, and they said yes. Her reaction on the episode: "I created a membership."
She ran it five hours a week while still in corporate.
Why Aren't Your Posts Turning Into Sales?
Because most content teaches without changing what the audience believes, and it ends without a next step. Asked about the missing piece, Toni says: "Two things, both starting with B. First one is belief shift." Then: "And then the second thing is bridges."
Her blunt version: "nobody wants to be like taught." The goal is to change a belief, because, as Stu and Toni finish together, if you don't shift the beliefs, you don't shift the behavior. A bridge is the natural next step at the end of a post, such as a tool that helps put the new idea to work.
Buyers have also grown wary of obvious funnels. "They can taste it when they're inside of a funnel, and it kind of gives them the ick a little bit." Her alternative: "we don't need to actually convince them if we can compel them". That is the core of a content strategy that converts.
What Does a Content Funnel Look Like When It Works?
It points every piece in one direction. Toni's rule: "You should have one core program that you're offering." In this social media funnel, each post shifts a belief, ends with a comment trigger word, and delivers a small tool that leads into a workshop and then the core offer.
For one client's workshop, her team plans about seven pieces of content, six reels and a carousel, starting seven days out and front-loaded into the first few days. That organic social media strategy comes first, then ad spend goes behind what performs, a smart way to stretch one strong hook.
The lead magnet funnel shrinks too. Instead of a 47-page guide, Toni recommends micro magnets, like Stu's own "do I have a viable niche?" tool (a good fit if you are still choosing a niche). Her standard: "The whole goal is quick win instant value, super fast and easy to consume." The workshop then does the selling, the way webinar funnels drive membership conversions.
What Should You Steal From This Episode?
Build your content from what already works inside your program. Toni's prompt: "what content did your members, your clients, froth over inside your program?" Then give away the best bits as a preview, the way a movie trailer does, because people who love that material inside are likely to love it outside too.
As she puts it: "your absolute worst case in giving it away is like, you change more people's lives." Toni has run both a low-ticket and a high-ticket membership, and if you offer multiple tiers, the one-core-program rule still applies.
She is also bullish on the model itself: "memberships aren't dead, courses aren't dead." Community matters more than ever, so think about where your community lives.
