What is SEO? And what do video transcriptions have to do with improving your SEO? Maybe you have a general idea… “Isn’t SEO a magical _______ (Formula? Algorithm? Phrase?) that makes your content pop up in search engines all over the world?”.

SEO is very important, to say the least. If you aren’t currently optimizing your SEO everywhere in your business that allows it, you definitely should be.

But we get it, it kind of seems like this super techie, confusing code that might be out of your depth.

Good news, it’s not.

It’s actually way easier than you might think, so let’s demystify and set the record straight on any negative impressions of SEO you might’ve had.

What Is SEO?

Literally, it’s short for Search Engine Optimization.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the quality and quantity of website traffic to a website or a web page from search engines. SEO targets unpaid traffic (known as “natural” or “organic” results) rather than direct traffic or paid traffic. Unpaid traffic may originate from different kinds of searches, including image search, video search, academic search, news search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.”

In a nutshell, good SEO is not only going to make your content (be it a website, video or anything else with a digital footprint) visible in search engines like Google, but it’s also going to place that content higher in the search results.

You can achieve higher rankings and appear on Google’s first page by using key phrases, terms, repetitive language, leveraging transcriptions to improve SEO, and more.

Ready to dive in? Let’s go…

Leveraging Searchie Transcriptions To Improve SEO

You know those transcriptions that we blab about so much? They are seriously ah-maze-ing.

Yes, we know our opinion as the Searchie Team is a little biased, but we love it. And you can’t argue with facts…

Automatic transcription boosts accessibility to your content in ways difficult to imagine at first.

By including a searchable transcript and captions, you’re serving all types of people in your audience. Think about it. Everyone can now access your stuff… people who consume video content without sound on, or watch on 2x speed, or who prefer to just read through the text itself.

People are consuming video content like never before, just check out these stats from biteable.com.  More than two-thirds (64%) of marketers say their videos perform better with captions.

Ready for the punchline? You should, too!

As if that wasn’t enough, you can also leverage Searchie’s auto-generated transcriptions to improve SEO and uplevel your Search Engine Optimization game.

This is a tactic that many of our Searchie users have been using, and it’s a lot easier than you may think.

Who Uses SEO?

We hope you can answer this question with “Me!” by the end of this blog post.

For now, meet Scott Prath, Speech Language Pathologist at Bilinguistics. He’s been able to leverage Searchie transcriptions to improve SEO on his blog. It’s been working REALLY well for him, and he’s opted to share his wealth of knowledge with the rest of the Searchie Community, AKA you!

Get know more about Scott and his “Easy SEO” right here:

When we had the pleasure of chatting with Scott, he shared some insight with us about “receptive language”. This is a term that is really special to Speech Pathologists. In fact, it’s so special that Bilinguistics offers two courses on it.

One is a 60-minute video, the second is 30 minutes and both are hosted in Searchie (obviously). The transcripts for these particular courses range from about 13,000-15,000 words spoken. That’s a lot of juicy material to work with!

Scott takes the text from presentations, images, and content from slides, then turns them into blog posts. Since so much content is covered in an hour-long presentation, Scott is able to turn just one transcript into upwards of 5 blog posts!

That’s amazing—and it makes it super easy for Scott and his team to post blog content regularly as the Bilinguistics team. Scott’s also been able to make the most of his free time to schedule 3 social media posts per week for the next 6 months, leveraging his existing content. It’s just one of the strategies he’s using to reach a larger audience.

The consistent language being used (including his golden term, “receptive language”) helps drive the SEO for his website and blog. Not only that, Scott has titled blogs “Receptive Language Disorder”, “Tips For Teletherapy Receptive Language Items”… seeing the pattern? Scott is able to identify how many times this keyphrase is mentioned in his video transcriptions, and use it to improve SEO.

The keyphrase appears in each blog title, as well as in the copy itself.

3 Steps From Scott Prath

Searchie has given us the ability to rapidly make this content and shape it around the words that we’re going after, and we’re seeing results, which is ecstatic. It brings people back to our website and then onto our community.

The 10x Strategy

The 10x Strategy is described as a Growth Strategy to grow your online business. The name for this strategy has a bit of a cut-throat history, if you ask us. It describes the top engineers of a company whose work is 10x better than the company’s not-so-extraordinary engineer.

Harsh, right? But we’ll bet you’ll never forget the name now!

After all, 10x growth for any company, both big or small, would be an absolute game-changer.

We’re paraphrasing, but Business Success Solution goes deeper into this strategy.

Let’s talk about use cases…

The goal of this strategy is to show up in the top ten search results on search engines or Google. Scott told us about some key components to making an appearance on the front page of Google.

By the way, that’s where all marketers want to be!

We especially loved his tips about reviewing content to see which pages of your online business include video, and how long the text or articles are that accompany the video. By having a higher word count, more images, leveraging transcriptions to improve SEO, and more videos, your content can rank higher in searches.

If you’re using WordPress, you can easily check if you’ve executed this strategy (or your own) by looking at the SEO analysis located at the very bottom of your blog post. There are few apps and plugins that do this, but we use Yoast SEO Premium. In this case, the more green smiley faces you see, the better(IYKYK).

If you’re using other website builders, you likely have an SEO feature like this included or one that’s available as an upgrade. You can also find free “SEO checkers” with a quick Google search, like this one

Which brings us to our next point of discussion…

“Google It”

A term that (mostly) everyone is familiar with. How many Google searches have you done today? This week?

Let’s face it, we’ve become reliant on Google for a lot—because it’s reliable. When you Google a term and click the first or second link, chances are you’re going to find the answer to your question.

That’s why it’s so key to have your content appear on the first page!

No one really ventures further than that, people spend a lot of time, attention, and money to appear on the first page of Google search results.

When was the last time you went to page four or five… of a Google search? Not ever!

Scott used this strategy, by leveraging transcriptions to improve SEO and saw his post appear fourth from the top of the first page in a Google search. That’s pretty sweet, if you ask us.

Naturally, the keywords and phrases used will change depending on the terms relevant to your business. The main takeaway is that this is obtainable using the transcripts that you already have through Searchie!

Scott points out that since his transcriptions are taken from a presentation, the writing is already set in the tone of voice Bilinguistics uses for their audience.

Lean into your unique business and give your expertise and skill a podium to stand on. Your terms used when delivering your expert knowledge will be what set you apart!

In a field full of horses, be a unicorn.

More like, in a saturated market, have great SEO(Search Engine Optimization) and stand out from the crowd, but you get it.
